Following the meeting, a Downing Street spokesperson said:

The Prime Minister met with the Commission President-Elect Jean-Claude Juncker earlier today in Brussels.

They discussed the formation of the next Commission and the President updated the Prime Minister on the process from here onwards.

The Prime Minister reiterated the case for Lord Hill securing a strong economic portfolio.
