The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Development Assistance Committee (DAC) has issued a report on the UK’s development assistance as part of a regular series of reviews of OECD DAC donor aid policies and programmes.

The report notes that the UK is a global leader on international development and has taken a particular lead on driving international action on gender equality and minority rights. The UK is commended for meeting the 0.7% ODA target and for its focus on the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people, many of whom are in fragile and conflict-affected states.

The DAC’s recommendations for the government include useful observations on how to ensure the effectiveness of the UK’s approach to development. DFID is committed to this and will consider the best way to take the recommendations forward.
