The Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice today (27 March 2015) announced the appointment of Lord Justice Bean as the new Chairman of the Law Commission of England and Wales and the re-appointment of Professor David Ormerod QC as a Law Commissioner.

Lord Justice Bean will take up his appointment on the 1 August 2015. The appointment is for an initial term of 3 years. He succeeds The Right Honourable Lord Justice (Sir David) Lloyd Jones who has successfully led the Law Commission for the last 3 years.

Professor David Ormerod QC has been re-appointed for a period of 5 years from 1 September 2015.
