Inspection of adoption support agencies

Following the recent consultation the new inspection framework for adoption support agencies will introduce a judgement of ‘requires improvement’ for inspections from April 2015.

The evaluation schedule includes revised evaluation criteria for ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’, and a limiting judgement for the overall effectiveness grade where any judgement area is found to be ‘inadequate’.

Inspection of boarding and residential provision in schools

Following the recent consultation the new inspection framework for boarding and residential special schools we will introduce a judgement of ‘requires improvement’ for inspections from April 2015.

The evaluation schedule includes revised tougher criteria including the introduction of limiting judgements. The experiences and progress of children and young people has been put at the centre of the new inspection framework.

Childrens’ homes inspection documents and incident forms

The inspection handbook and Annex A as a form for providers to complete are now available for inspection from 1 April 2015.

Incident notification forms are available for children’s homes and secure children’s homes for use from 1 April 2015.
