Before you leave

  1. Get travel insurance. This is the only way to make sure you’re covered if something goes wrong. Leave a copy of your policy with family back home too.

  2. Get a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). For necessary public healthcare treatment abroad – more info and online application here: https://www.ehic.org.uk/Internet/startApplication.do

  3. Check our latest travel advice before you leave: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/malta

  4. Take photocopies of your passport. Leave one at home, carry one with you.

At the festival

  1. Don’t get involved with drugs. At AMP Lost&Found last year 11 British festival-goers were arrested on drugs charges. 5 of them served sentences in prison. Penalties for drug offences are harsh in Malta. There is little distinction between classes of drugs in Maltese law.

  2. Look after your passport. Having to apply for an Emergency Travel Document means you will miss out on valuable AMP Lost&Found time. It may also mean changing your travel plans and is expensive too. More info: https://www.gov.uk/emergency-travel-document

  3. Stay in touch. Follow us on twitter (@UKinMalta) like us on Facebook (UKinMalta).

  4. Be aware at the festival venue.
Don’t take your valuables with you; thieves may operate in the area during the festival.

  5. Be respectful to others.

  6. In an emergency call 112 to speak to the emergency services.
