Rock fall netting is to go up as part of work to repair the rock face on the A590 at Arrad Foot. Crews will also remove loose stones and clear vegetation.

The Highways England work starts on Monday (10 October) for 3 weeks. The westbound carriageway will be closed for the duration of the scheme, with traffic running in both directions using a contraflow system on the eastbound dual carriageway with a 40 mph speed limit.

Highways England project manager Peter Gee said:

The rock face at this location is prone to loose stones. There’s no real danger of big rocks falling. It’s just better for drivers and their vehicles if we protect them from falling chippings so we’re erecting rock fall netting as a precaution.
