Press release: Better journeys in Midlands as Highways England completes work early

Repair work at the A34/A500 Talke Junction near Stoke will mean safer journeys for people travelling near Stoke. Phase one of the scheme is being completed today (Friday) with the road opening from 6am tomorrow morning (Saturday), more than two weeks ahead of schedule.

Elsewhere a scheme to strengthen the southbound carriageway of the M6 near Great Barr has been completed more than three weeks ahead of schedule.

Highways England project manager Jess Kenny, said:

As we deliver record Government investment in roads, we are committed to keeping disruption to roads to a minimum. We’re delighted to be able to give motorists a real boost by completing these complex and challenging schemes ahead of schedule.

We’d like to thank drivers for their patience while this vital work took place.

Freeport Talke Centre Manager Sue Sweatmore, added:

We are delighted that phase one is completed in time for our busiest period of the year. All our retailers and staff will be delighted to welcome more visitors to Freeport Talke as a result.
